Okay, so for all you seasoned pros on the internet out there, this might be a bit simple, but we are here for everybody. From our point of view when you launch a business website, a Google Analytics account should be a natural inclusion.

For those that don’t know, Google Analytics is the most common free platform you can use to track how many visitors you get to your website, how long they stay on your site, where they come from, what sort of devices they are using, where they are and lots of useful and also confusing information.

Even if you don’t look at it often, it is good to have it there for when it may be useful, like when you run different marketing campaigns or just feel the need.

We encourage our clients that don’t have a Google Analytics account to get one because it makes the value of our work more clearly measurable. And hopefully that is a good thing! We collate it into an easy to read report that is sent as often as the client likes.

Best Way To Set Up Google Analytics

The best way to set up Google Analytics is under the same account as your Google+ account, and if you have one, your Adwords account. It saves having multiple log ins and makes navigating between Google products easier. Here is a link to the Google Analytics Sign Up Page if you don’t have one.

Basically Google generates a small script that you paste to the header section of your website. WordPress and other CMS programs also have plugins that make it easy to add your Google Analytics account if you don’t like the idea of editing the code on your website. It only takes a few minutes to set it up.

Of course there are other ways to track visitors to your site, using private software or some content management systems of eCommerce platforms have one built it, but why not use a free one that reports on all the data you probably need.
